Martin is a Digital Advocacy Coordinator at FOE. As a member of the Development team, he writes and edits membership email communications, drafts advocacy petitions, and collects signatures from FOE members and supporters to pressure law makers and corporation stakeholders to make changes in their practices and policies for environmental justice and social good.
He works closely with Campaigners and the Organizing teams to help with Friends of the Earth Action’s political work and Friends of the Earth environmental campaigns to protect public lands and uplift voices of marginalized communities. Martin joined Friends of the Earth after a year working in political advertising and organizing at the Democratic National Committee and Mothership Strategies. During his time he developed a relentless work ethic and desire to help others as well as a keen eye for bringing creativity that goes outside of the box, to the table.
Martin was raised in the Washington Metropolitan area where he learned the importance of having a seat at the table when it comes to creating progressive sociopolitical change. He went to Occidental college, the original alma mater of Barack Obama, where he majored in Sociology and was heavily engaged in advocating for improvements in student well-being across a range of social identities. If he’s not crafting new creative political action plans you can usually find Martin head deep in a comic book, drawing cartoon characters with a Japanese anime twist, or searching for the best ramen, sushi, and dim sum DC has to offer.
