Wear blue for the oceans on January 13!

Our oceans provide us with 50% of the oxygen we breathe, awe inspiring beauty, delicious food, and lots of fun. It’s time to celebrate them and show our support for a national ocean policy by wearing blue on January 13!
Last year President Obama commissioned an Interagency Task Force to develop a recommendation for a national ocean policy, as well as a framework for marine spatial planning. The Task Force is almost finished with its job, and it will be up to President Obama to issue an Executive Order officially creating a policy. He will need to hear from everyone concerned about our oceans in order to ensure a strong National Ocean Policy.
Here’s how you can show your support:
- Wear blue on Jan. 13 and get your friends, family, coworkers or classmates to join you!
- Upload a photo of yourself in blue to the Wear Blue for Oceans site, so everyone can see your support.
- Attend one of the Wear Blue for Oceans events being planned coast to coast. Right now events are being organized in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, CA, New Orleans, LA, Houston, TX, Seal Beach, CA, Honolulu, HI, Anchorage, AK, St. Petersburg, FL, y Cambridge, MA.
- Wear blue and get out of the office for a bit to mingle with assorted sea creatures and join other activists in calling for a strong national ocean policy!
