Rally Tally: Activists urge Japan to stop funding fossil fuels

This is your formal invitation to a recurring blog post dubbed Rally Tally.

What: Record of the rallies we coordinate and attend

Where: This very blog

When: After every rally

For our first installment … we have the most recent rally hosted by our very own Kate DeAngelis, international policy analyst. What were we rallying about? Well, it turns out 32 countries are currently negotiating a deal that would restrict public financing for coal projects. Japan is against these limitations, and their resistance stems from the fact that it provided over $20 billion in coal financing from 2007 to 2014. This means that Japan is financing environmental destruction and climate disruption all over the world. We just can’t have that, so we protested outside the Japan Bank for International Cooperation in Washington, D.C. with the Sierra Club and Oil Change International.

Interested in taking action? There’s another rally tomorrow, November 14. Details aquí.
