Statement on Trumps Energy Executive Order

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Trump administration issued a sweeping Executive Order rolling back climate action by the federal government.

Friends of the Earth U.S. President Erich Pica issued the following statement about the announcement:

Donald Trump continues to sacrifice the health of millions of Americans to boost the profits of Big Oil. The administration’s Energy Executive Order will further our dependence on fossil fuels and will accelerate climate change. This Executive Orderrewards Trump’s cronies in the Energy Industry, while condemning people around the globe to poverty, famine, and death from climate change.

Trump cannot simply eradicate past progress on climate action by himself. The Supreme Court ruled that EPA has the obligation to regulate greenhouse gasses under the Clean Air Act. Friends of the Earth will join with people across the country to pressure the EPA to follow the laws protecting our climate and public health.
