WASHINGTON – Just days after the U.S. Government Accountability Office found that two top Homeland Security officials in acting positions are serving illegally in violation of the Vacancies Act, the White House rescinded William Perry Pendley’s nomination for BLM Director, according to reports. Pendley has served in an acting capacity without Senate confirmation for over a year.

William Perry Pendley is an unapologetic racist who would rather sell off our public lands to the highest bidder than protect them. The White House flaunted the Vacancies Act and let Pendley lead the BLM without Senate confirmation, allowing him to destroy the department from the inside.

Now the Trump Administration is scrambling to cover their tracks after it became clear that even the majority-Republican Senate does not want Pendley. We will not stop fighting until all pro-polluter cronies are removed and our government serves the people, not corporate interests.
