Trump Administration continues assault on oceans and coastal communities
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Trump Administration continued its assault on our oceans yesterday with a new executive order. The executive order overturns decades of work by the federal government, experts, and the public that went toward building a truly sustainable national ocean policy.
Hallie Templeton, Senior Oceans Campaigner at Friends of the Earth, issued the following statement in response:
This devastating executive order opens our imperiled oceans and coastal communities to even greater destruction at the hands of fossil fuel corporations. From drilling to pollution, the Trump Administration puts our communities and marine species under more threat. Coastal communities that rely on healthy oceans for jobs, food and cultural activities will undoubtedly suffer as corporate polluters gain more control of our waters.
