WASHINGTON, D.C. — Friends of the Earth President Erich Pica had the following response to news that U.S. President Barack Obama will travel to Copenhagen in December to participate in international climate negotiations:

“Solving the climate crisis requires leadership from the United States, but thus far, the Obama administration has pushed for a weak and unfair agreement. The President needs to do more than just show up; he must ensure that the United States promotes real solutions, including stronger emissions reduction targets and funding for developing countries to deal with climate impacts and transition to clean energy economies.”
