Pruitt confirmation a display of polluter influence
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt is testifying before the Environment and Public Works Committee in his confirmation to head the Environmental Protection Agency. Pruitt has extensive ties to industries that he would regulate, including the oil and gas industry and factory farming.
Friends of the Earth Senior Political Strategist Ben Schreiber issued the following statement before Pruitt’s hearing:
Scott Pruitt built his entire career in Oklahoma by aiding polluting industries. Pruitt dropped litigation and ignored regulations as polluters gave him generous campaign contributions. Now Donald Trump wants to send him to Washington to dismantle national environmental protections. This cynical move by Trump rewards his campaign backers by sacrificing the health of millions of Americans.
