Trump budget sacrifices public health to war machine

WASHINGTON, D.C. – It is being reported that Donald Trump is set to release a budget that would slash funding to important agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency and boost military spending. Friends of the Earth Senior Political Strategist Ben Schreiber offered the follow response to these reports:

With this budget Donald Trump is sacrificing the health of working class communities and communities of color to his militarism. The fossil fuel industry has already poisoned millions of Americans and today Trump is telling frontline communities that contaminated water and polluted air are good enough for them. 

Trump is not a dictator and he cannot enact this budget alone. Members of Congress should stamp this budget as dead on arrival. Senate Democrats must come out immediately and make it clear that sacrificing working Americans to Trump’s war machine is an unacceptable trade.
