Congress Must Reject Manchin’s Dirty Deal, Protect Communities and Climate
WASHINGTON – Today, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WVa.) introduced legislation that would eviscerate bedrock environmental laws, rob communities’ voice in the permitting process, fast track dirty energy projects, and force completion of the fracked-gas Mountain Valley Pipeline.
Karen Orenstein, Director of Climate and Energy Justice at Friends of the Earth, issued the following statement:
There is no compromise or window dressing that can fix this dirty disaster of a deal. A vote for Senator Manchin and Senator Schumer’s bill is a vote for environmental racism, classism, and climate catastrophe. If elected officials care about a livable planet for future generations, they must reject this bill, full stop.
