Friends of the Earth Condemns Roe Reversal from U.S. Supreme Court

Washington, DC – The Supreme Court today ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade – a landmark decision that established the Constitutional right to abortion almost 50 years ago. The ruling of Dobbs v. Jackson came through a vote of 6-3, with Justices Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan dissenting.

Erich Pica, President of Friends of the Earth, issued this statement:

Overturning Roe and abolishing an essential reproductive right is unconscionable and wrong. Americans will forever remember this unjust ruling reversing 50 years of progress for basic human rights.

Congress must end the filibuster and immediately pass legislation that guarantees the right to an abortion for all who live in this country. We call on Friends of the Earth’s members and supporters across the nation to demonstrate and defend a person’s right to choose.
