Friends of the Earth statement on the removal of HHS Secretary Tom Price

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price resigned this afternoon following reports he misused government resources as he repeatedly flew across the country and around the world on private and military flights at the taxpayers’ expense.

Ben Schreiber, Senior Political Strategist at Friends of the Earth, issued the following statement:

Tom Price violated the American trust and, while it took far too long, Trump was right to fire him.

Price is not the only member of the cabinet who misused taxpayer funds to jet-set across the country and around the world. Secretary Zinke, Secretary Mnuchin and Administrator Pruitt have all done exactly the same thing. They must pay back the American people the full cost of their flights and each of them should be fired immediately.

Trump’s corrupt cabinet begins at the top. Trump has repeatedly used the presidency for profit and it is no surprise that members of his cabinet are following his lead and taking advantage of their positions.
