Jorjani confirmed to be DOI Solicitor
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Senate today voted to confirm Daniel Jorjani to be the Solicitor of the Department of the Interior. The confirmation comes despite an ongoing investigation into Jorjani’s role in the department’s unethical public records release process.
In response to today’s confirmation, Nicole Ghio, Friends of the Earth’s senior fossil fuels program manager, issued the following statement:
The senators voting for Jorjani despite his probable lies to Congress during the confirmation process are disregarding their responsibility to oversee the department. These senators are offering their endorsement of the fraud and duplicity of the Trump administration.
With the consent of the Senate, we fully anticipate Jorjani will use his role to expand corruption and concealment within the Department of the Interior. Mitch McConnell and his ilk serve Trump and his corporate cronies like the Koch brothers, not the American people.
