Polluting Pruitt testifies at Senate EPW Committee Hearing

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt is scheduled to appear today before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. His appearance is only the fourth time Pruitt has appeared before Congress as administrator, making this a rare opportunity for Pruitt to be held accountable for his actions.

In anticipation of the hearing, Friends of the Earth has published “Four things Scott Pruitt is hoping Senators will not ask him today.”

Today’s appearance is a rare opportunity for the Senate to hold Pruitt accountable. Secret phone booths, abuses of government travel to Oklahoma and Morocco, lavish events with oil and coal executives, and a phalanx of personal security are only the start of an egregiously long list of his abuses of power. In an administration full of scandals, Pruitt’s tireless work on behalf of corporate polluters makes him the top personal lobbyist for Big Oil. The Senate must make him answer for his abysmal track record.
