Senate must reject Andrew Wheeler as EPA Administrator

WASHINGTON – At an event at the White House this afternoon, Trump announced that he will nominate Andrew Wheeler to be Administrator of the EPA. Wheeler, who is currently serving as Acting Administrator of the agency, will have to be confirmed by the Senate for the new position.

In response to Trump’s remarks, Ariel Moger, spokesperson for Friends of the Earth, issued the following statement:

Andrew Wheeler is a puppet of the fossil fuel industry and a disaster for the EPA. As Acting Administrator, Wheeler has continued Scott Pruitt’s toxic agenda and opened the EPA’s doors even wider to corporate polluters.

Americans deserve an EPA Administrator who will protect our clean air and water, safeguard our planet, and take the threat of climate change seriously. For the sake of our public health and our environment, the Senate must reject Wheeler.
