Environmental and fair trade organizations take action against Rep. Blumenauers vote on trade

Groups to flyer Portland, Oregon to target wayward climate champion

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tuesday, May 26 a group of environmental and fair trade organizations including 350PDX, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace USA, Oregon Fair Trade Campaign, and Portland Rising Tide will post flyers around the district office and home of Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) in response to his Committee vote for Fast Track trade promotion authority.  The flyers say: “Missing: Climate Champion Earl Blumenauer/Captured by Corporate Polluters” and end with the appeal: “If found, please return him to the people.” This action is part of a larger effort by the groups to express their concerns with fast track to Rep. Blumenauer and other Congressmen.

The groups also posted the “Missing” flyers in Washington, D.C.With the exception of his fast track endorsement, Representative Blumenauer has been a champion on climate change and sustainable food and agricultural issues, and is an influential progressive in Congress.
