Friends of the Earth Statement on Bayer/Monsanto SCOTUS Ruling
WASHINGTON — Friends of the Earth U.S. released this statement today on the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Bayer/Monsanto case:
“Today’s Supreme Court decision sells out farmers, gardeners, and rural communities to multibillion-dollar pesticide corporations,” said Sarah Starman, Senior Food & Agriculture Campaigner and Friends of the Earth. “It is devastating that the Court has restricted the ability of everyday Americans to hold pesticide companies accountable for the harms of their toxic products. No industry should be above the law, especially not an industry that makes products linked to cancer, infertility, and other serious health harms. But the story doesn’t end here. We’ll keep fighting in the courts, the EPA, and halls of Congress for a future that is free of toxic pesticides — a future where the health of our farmers, farmworkers, families, and environment comes first.”
