Latest Congressional funding deal is a massive failure for the environment

WASHINGTON – Congress this afternoon released appropriations bills to fund the government for this coming year. These bills promote dangerous fossil fuel investments in Europe, leave intact numerous anti-environment legacy riders and fund Trump’s racist border wall.

In response, Erich Pica, president of Friends of the Earth, issued the following statement:

This is a monumental failure of leadership. Bad deals like this are not why we send Democrats to Washington. This is not a victory for the environment. We call upon progressive leaders to vote against this disastrous package.
