Friends of the Earth Response to Congressional Investigation of Alaska Willow Project Litigation
Hallie Templeton, Legal Director for Friends of the Earth, issued the following statement in response to the Congressional investigation of its litigation over Alaska’s Willow Project:
Since our inception in 1969, Friends of the Earth has dedicated itself to achieving a more healthy and just world, and our work on oil and gas activity is no exception. Our litigation over the federal government approvals of the Willow Project ensured that our nation’s bedrock environmental mandates were upheld, so that the full extent of this project’s harms to people and the planet were fully assessed before construction and extraction could commence. Nothing has changed: we will continue speaking truth to power and standing up for what is right, not what is politically convenient.
