#PollutingPruitt makes committee appearance
Pruitt testifies before Congress on the mission of the EPA as he dismantles the agency from withinWASHINGTON, D.C. – Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt is scheduled to appear this morning before the House Energy and Commerce subcommittee on the environment. Pruitt, who has spent the past ten months at the EPA dismantling it from within, is expected to provide testimony about the agency’s “Back to Basics” agenda and the metrics being used to measure success at the EPA.
Friends of the Earth put together an analysis of Pruitt’s actions and what he must be held accountable for.
Additionally, Lukas Ross, Climate and Energy Campaigner at Friends of the Earth, issued the following statement in response:
Pruitt is on the Hill today to discuss the mission of the EPA, a mission he has consistently ignored in favor of countless giveaways to the fossil fuel industry. It’s clear that Scott Pruitt’s own mission at the EPA is something else altogether: to undermine it from within and to give polluters free reign to destroy our air, water and climate.
Pruitt is determined to build an EPA by and for corporate polluters. He supposedly has the EPA getting “back to basics,” but apparently that doesn’t extend to basic human needs like clean air and water. Congress must hold him accountable.
