National organizations to deliver more than 150,000 petition signatures urging Congress to support the Peoples Budget

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A dozen national organizations representing tens of millions of Americans will deliver a petition with more than 150,000 signatures supporting the Congressional Progressive Caucus People’s Budget to CPC Co-chair Congressman Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.

The People’s Budget offers up a vision that prioritizes justice for people and the planet. It ends corporate welfare for Big Oil, imposes a tax on Wall Street transactions, and gives the climate a fighting chance by taxing carbon emissions. It creates good jobs by investing in renewable energy, gives a raise to working families and supports the critical services on which many depend. This budget reflects the priorities of the American people.

Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund, American Family Voices, Campaign for America’s Future, ColorOfChange.org, Courage Campaign, Daily Kos, Friends of the Earth, National People’s Action, National Priorities Project, RH Reality Check, Social Security Works and Watchdog.net/Demand Progress, in less than one week gathered more than 150,000 signatures on a petition that states: “The People’s Budget is right for my family and right for working families across America. I urge you to support it today.”
