Two new reports examine mega-merger’s impacts on farmers and consumers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the Department of Justice considers the approval of the Bayer-Monsanto merger, two new reports detail the impacts the merger will have on consumers, farmers and the future of “Big Data” in agriculture.

An event at the National Press Club will delve into two new research pieces on the Bayer-Monsanto merger. The first analysis explores the implications of a combined Big Data, chemical and seed platform owned by Bayer (BAYN) and Monsanto (MON) and how it may impact competition and farmer choice.

The second analysis examines how the Bayer-Monsanto merger uses the concept of market power called a “tight oligopoly on steroids” to examine the impacts of the Bayer-Monsanto merger on consumers.
