Zinke’s Travel Investigated by DOI Inspector General

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Interior has opened an investigation into Secretary Ryan Zinke’s inappropriate use of taxpayer-funded travel, according to reports. News of the investigation follows last week’s resignation of Tom Price as Secretary of Health and Human Services after it was disclosed he had spent hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on charter flights.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin have also been accused of running up exorbitant travel costs.

Ben Schreiber, Senior Political Strategist at Friends of the Earth, issued the following statement:

It is no surprise the Inspector General is examining Zinke’s use of taxpayer money to subsidize his private travel. It seems Zinke believes he’s so above the law that he’s continuing his crooked practices.

The corruption of Trump’s cabinet begins at the top. Trump appointed corrupt cabinet members that are using Americans’ taxes as their private piggy bank. Secretary Zinke, Secretary Mnuchin and Administrator Pruitt have all misused government money. The Inspectors General should require they pay back the cost of their flights and tell each of them that they’re fired.
